So I'm considering a Bucker Jungmann. If I do, I'll probably have to sell my Kaydet.
Anybody who's flown both (All two or three of you!) want to offer up an opinion?
Thanks!

Doesn’t answer your question but there are about 3 or 4 (or 5) Buckers at Gillespie Field in San Diego and another one at Pauma Valley about 20 miles away. Something to keep in mind if you buy or get serious about buying one. They would be a great resource, don’t know any phone numbers but seems like a very high concentration of Buckers. Good luck,

Good luck, I've seen their videos. Those cats fly a nice four-ship. There's a really nice Jungmeister at SXP, too, There are a couple of "pods" of Buckers and their tribe around the country. St. Augustine, Idaho and Texas, too. I'm learning more everyday.

As another poster mentioned, the Stearman is a truck compared to the Bucker. Most airplanes are trucks compared to the Bucker. When it comes to balance and handling, it's the standard from all other airplanes are measured against.
The Jungmanns are easier to land, do better acro, etc.. The Stearman has more room, and with the round engine is more classic bi-planey. If you want to look cool, give rides, and impress non-aviators with stories of your "warbird", get the Stearman. If you want a truly pure flying experience, get the Bucker.
Most Buckers have been retrofitted with a parallel valve 360 Lycoming, and this is a good conversion. It takes some weight off, and if they mount it correctly it doesn't screw up the balance. The Tigres actually perform well, but they are flying leaks. The Lycoming can be worked on by any A&P anywhere.
The only reason we got rid of our Bucker is because we also have an RV-8. The 8 is one of the few airplanes that flies as nice as the Bucker, but it has a canopy which matters in Wisconsin winters....oh and it goes 220mph.

Two totally different animals..
Bücker: Stradivarius Stearman: Bass
Bücker: Ferrari Stearman: Caterpillar
Bücker: Riva Tritone Stearman: Grand Banks trawler.
Bücker: Pavarotti Stearman: Elvis
There is absolutely no better acro mount than the German masterpiece. Even though it is not as quick or even brutal as the Pitts Special, aerobatics in the 'Book are nearly idyllic. And remember that the ü in Bücker makes the pronunciation "Booker".

It’s a Stradavarius. Thanks, Mike. I just heard about a Widgeon that may be coming up on an off-market status. Let me know if I can put you in touch with the guy. Not my cup o' tea.
